We're not sure what made the star's flip or the Moon to elongate; could have been Bago was seen on the Love Boat in his Speedo, or maybe it was the fresh aroma of cooked goat in the Bago Café (formally known as Goose Lane Café) but whatever caused this upheaval in the universe it gave us new material to laugh about all day today. We have several monumental topics to bring to the forefront. Each worthy of there own place in cyber space, but we agreed to place them in today's episode blog.
Topic 1: Let's Ponder This!
As the heading indicated really comes from the Professor's key word of the day. Where does the word "Ponder" actually come from? Could it be the Professor's old swim coach? Or does its origin go deeper than 1985. Well, The Lunch Gang hired a research firm to dig a littler deeper into the key word of the day…ponder. Its first known use was the early 14th century. Ponder "to estimate the worth of, to appraise" Middle English pondren < Middle French ponderer < Latin ponderāre to ponder, weigh; akin to pendēre to be suspended, hang. Meaning "to weigh a matter mentally" is attested from the late 14th Century. There are also Famous Quotations using the word Ponder as well, take for instance Bago's statement "If it snow's on Monroe Street, does the rest of the city get snow".
Topic 2: Why do they call me Rhubarb?
Now this is classic. As ManCave recalls the conversation with OM he tells The Professor and Coach on the way to lunch at Fort Street Brewery… It all started this morning in the Bago Café (formally known as Goose Lane Café) when OM and Rhubarb were standing in line to get a coffee. Rhubarb had noticed the "Dragon Lady" was standing in line just ahead of them when he leaned over to ask OM "what do you guys call her?" OM looked at him and said "Dragon Lady". Then he proceeds to tell Rhubarb "we have names for just about every person in the building" and Rhubarb with a surprised look on his face said…Really! After thinking about that for a moment, Rhubarb said to OM "if everyone has a nick name, what's mine?" Not knowing how to respond to that, OM decided to tell him "yours is Rhubarb". Why do they call me Rhubarb? He said. Then OM says…do you remember back about a year ago when you called your wife and told her to make a Rhubarb Pie for the guys at work? He said, yea. Well says OM…that's when BAGO decided you needed the nick name of "Rhubarb" and we've been calling you that behind your back ever since. As Coach drives to lunch listening to ManCave recalling the story, the three of them we’re laughing so hard that Coach could barely control the car. He was swerving from lane to lane in full laugher.
Topic 3: The Men Who Eat Goats!
Where does one buy goat in this Cube City anyway? Maybe it's a mail order, don't really know or care but it makes for a good story. It all began several weeks ago when Cube City got a new resident. A building of 3,500 people there are not many open cubes, but Don-Alright-Alright was able to locate one in the basement near the sump pump. A little eerie, a bit wet at time, dim lighting, smelled like dead fish but not a bad place to call home. The Lunch Gang has found out through and FBI criminal search that in his country he's known as the "Vamsinator". He stands about 4 foot tall and always wear's black leather from head to toe. His trade make is the RED staplers that he places in the middle of his desk. One day as OM was making his favorite "Peach Mango" cup of tea, he bumps into the Vamsinator. OM politely says "Sorry little dude". Impressed with his politeness, they strike up a friendship. The Vamsinator asks OM if you give him a boost up so he could heat his food in the microwave. OM was thinking to himself "what do I look like you little sawed off dude an elevator operator?" Sure OM says as he lifts the Vamsinator into position. After heating his meal he offered OM a sample in which OM agreed. After trying it OM says "what is that?" The Vamsinator explains it’s a dip we use in my country to enhance our height. OM started laughing out loud. "No really, what was it?" The Vamsinator tells him it's Sweaty Balls. How'd you like it? My wife is making some traditional dishes from our country tomorrow and if you'd like I'll bring in a few samples for you. She's making a Goatbeque and I think you'll really like it. OM looking a little puzzled now says to Vamsinator "What's Goatbeque?"…the Vamsinator starting laughing; you silly it's Goat in Barbeque sauce. Can't wait replies OM. Good I'll stop by your desk tomorrow and we'll go down to the BAGO Café (formally known as the Goose Lane Café) and enjoy ourselves. Then the Vamsinator makes a funny "I'll be baaaaaaaaack"!
So today when asked OM would like to join the Professor, ManCave and Coach for lunch at the Fort Street Brewery, OM declined. We later find out about the Goatbeque. When asked about the Goatbeque, all OM could say was…Tasted like Chicken!
Topic 4: Junior OM shorts the bill
It's hard to believe but after learning about OM's encounter with the Goatbeque, Smokes brings Junior OM to the Fort Street Brewery. The kid is cool and pretty much just eats Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches. Well after we all enjoyed a little laugher and some good food, it was time to settle up the bill. Coach, ManCave, The Professor and Smokes all throw in. Smokes grab up the money and started counting it to make sure we didn't short-change the restaurant when he noticed in was short. Smokes says "not enough money guys" and all hell broke loose.
