We are all familiar with the phrase "you are what you eat or drink" and today the Lunch Gang members we're reminded of it. If you recall, OM gave up drinking for Lent and he's become a different person because of it. The Professor has been keeping stats and over the last 3 weeks, OM has joined the Lunch Gang for lunch maybe one (1) time. Today he was making excuses that he's to busy to join us, but he was send text messages back-and-forth to ManCave during lunch. Faced with insurmountable data we took it upon ourselves to have an intervention. So after lunch (you don't think we we're going to miss our lunch do you?) as a team, the Lunch Gang members walked to OM's cube for the intervention. Well, after Colon Blow Bago purchased a chocolate chip cookie from Goose Lane Café we walked to OM's cube. Well, after Colon Blow Bago stopped to clean himself up (he looked like a one year old eating cake on their 1st birthday…all over his face) we walked to OM's cube.
Arriving at OM's cube, we thought we'd find his lunch spread all over his desk, on the contrary. There he was in his shinny purple dress shirt working away. He looked up and seen us standing there and said "Is this an intervention?" We stood there looking for some sign of our old friend OM and all we got was that "don't bother me look".., then he went on to say "he didn't love us anymore". Coach looked at him and said "who are you and what did you do with our friend?" ManCave looked at us and said "this no booze thing has really put him into a tail spin". T-Mobile told him his seat at the Lunch Gang table has been taken by the boss and that didn't even faze him. The OM said to the group "it was hard at first but now I'm looking at the world a little differently and I'm not sure what I was doing with you guys". That was it, the last straw…we all walked away. The Professor said it best "denial is the first step in the process" and OM is for sure on that step.
Maybe in 3 ½ weeks when he does back on the Kegerator, he'll re-join the Lunch Gang.
